Alexa Bliss has been an integral part of the WWE’s Women’s Division for years. She is a former Raw Women’s Champion, SmackDown Women’s Champion, and Women’s Tag Team Champion, and has been involved in several high-profile feuds during her time with the company. However, despite her undeniable talent and popularity, Bliss has not been receiving the kind of push that many fans believe she deserves. In her most recent run, she was involved in a feud with Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, to whom she lost in an embarrassing fashion at Royal Rumble 2023. This came as a shock to the WWE Universe who had been firmly rooting for Bliss to win and regain her lost glory. And to make things worse, Alexa Bliss hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since that match.

Alexa Bliss Denied Being On Hiatus From WWE

The Wrestling Observer newsletter recently featured a report by Dave Meltzer stating that Alexa Bliss is taking a break from WWE. Upon seeing the rumors circulating around, Alexa Bliss herself addressed the situation.

She tweeted “Tired of seeing these tweets. I am not on a hiatus. They know where to find me.” This tweet was followed by another one just a few minutes later which said, “also need to remember – you only see what parts of life I want you to see.” While she didn’t specifically name WWE, it was obvious from context that her first tweet was directed at WWE, who have not booked her for appearing at WrestleMania as of this writing.

Alexa Bliss’ Long History Of Frustration With WWE

This is not the first time Alexa has subtly fired shots at the company as her haphazard booking by WWE has been going on for years. While she was doing her dark gimmick in 2021, fans felt out of touch with her character as it seemed to have no depth to it. After Bray Wyatt’s exit from WWE with whom her dark character was inevitably tied, Bliss fell into a repetitive story with her magical doll named Lilly that led to nowhere. During an interview with Metro.co.uk in 2021, Alexa Bliss stated that her WWE character is too similar to her true self, and she’s been unable to define the character. As a result, the character has not been as enjoyable or entertaining for audiences. She said, “They always say ‘Be yourself but turned up’, but for me in life – I like me. For TV, I’m not entertaining, I know that! I’m boring!” Alexa added. “I’m stuck trying to figure out what that is, especially after therapy, after taking away all the aspects of what the dark, evil Alexa was.”

Alexa Bliss also recently commented on being snubbed by WWE during their celebration of International Women’s Day. They paid tribute to almost every female talent on the roster but seemingly forgot Alexa, who is a five time WWE women’s champion. The Goddess responded to her exclusion, sarcastically tweeting “Not surprised lol”. About a year ago she had posted yet another tweet subtly roasting WWE for not using her, the tweet read “I’ll just wait here I guess…”. A fan sarcastically replied to her by saying “Just wait and see how it plays out?”. This was a direct reference to Alexa’s reaction to her on-screen psychological segments in WWE that failed to go anywhere. Alexa responded to the fan by saying, “I know you’re trying to be a smartass but this tweet did make me laugh lol.” WWE hasn’t ever responded to any of Alexa’s cryptic tweets.

Is WWE Wasting Alexa Bliss’ Potential?

Bliss’ frustration with her booking in WWE is completely justified. For instance, it’s been five years since Alexa held a women’s world championship in WWE. Her last reign came all the way back in 2018, and although she’s won the tag team championship since then, it hasn’t led her career anywhere according to many fans. Her character has changed from babyface to heel many times in the past few years, but without a big payoff.

WWE’s current women’s division is really missing an edge, and with many new stars failing to achieve that, Alexa Bliss is the perfect candidate to bring it to the division. She’s over with the fans, in the prime of her career, and the last thing she should be doing is sitting at home being unused by WWE.
