Attending the event in Los Angeles on Sunday 18 February, the singer was caught having a bit of conversation with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, when she threw some shade at the supposed TikTok creators seated beside them.

After the clip of the conversation was shared by celebrity gossip account Pop Crave, fans unanimously supported Billie Eilish for her candid comments about influencer culture taking over the industry. More than anything, Eilish received all the support after Barbie actress America Ferrera was spotted engaging in an awkward interaction with influencers on the Red Carpet.

Billie Eilish Wasn’t Happy With TikTokers at People’s Choice Awards 

Among notable celebrities who joined the herd at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, Billie Eilish was spotted sitting with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, at the event. Attending the auspicious event in Los Angeles on Sunday 18 February, Eilish seemed visibly upset with the guest list. The singer was spotted speaking with Minogue where she was heard throwing shade at the TikTokers present at the event.

In the video shared by celebrity gossip account Pop Crave, Billie Eilish could be heard commenting on the presence of social media influencers at Hollywood events. Covering her face to hide from cameras, Eilish was heard saying “there’s some, like, TikTokers here” to Kylie Minogue. Further, she was seen pointing her thumb at supposed TikTok creators seated beside them, before shaking her head in disapproval.

Although it’s unclear who exactly she’s referring to, especially since there were many social media influencers seated in the audience, Billie Eilish’s comments sparked controversies. Despite most netizens supporting her candid views on influencer culture taking over the industry, a few fans slammed the singer.

America Ferrera’s Awkward Red Carpet Interview Attracted Attention 

Meanwhile, shifting the spotlight from Billie Eilish’s comments, there happened an awkward interview between the Barbie actress America Ferrera and TikTok influencer Harry Daniels, at the People’s Choice Awards, Red Carpet event. While jokes and gags are always welcome, this particular interview seemed extremely bizarre where Ferrera was asked to pick one, without any context.

Witnessing this bizarre sort of question thrown at America Ferrera via X, out of nowhere, that too at a Hollywood event attended by A-listers and renowned personalities, fans cringed hard. Calling out the TikToker for his lack of sense and the quality of the question, netizens on X slammed the People’s Choice Awards for inviting social media influencers to the event.

Fans Support Billie Eilish for Throwing Shade at TikTokers 

Following the unusual encounter between America Ferrera and TikTok influencer Harry Daniels, which sparked debate about the professionalism and credibility of TikTokers at Red Carpet events, netizens came out in support of Billie Eilish even more. Witnessing the quality of questions thrown at superstars, Oscar winners, and nominees, fans shared their wave of negative reactions to the events.

Pointing out the unprofessional and unnecessary questions at the Red Carpet, fans noted the huge difference between fame and influence. Claiming that interviewers should have command and depth in their questions, fans noted that influences shouldn’t be allowed on the press line.

Discussing how true journalists yearn for a similar privilege but are denied, fans argued that TikTokers and social media influencers are seemingly diminishing the purpose of celebratory award shows, with their vague questions. But among people who supported Billie Eilish and went against TikTokers, there were a few who defended the influencers. Thus the matter continues to spark debates, online.
