One Big Happy was supposed to be her big break in America but after getting a mauling from critics, Kelly Brook will be disappointed with how things are working out.
And things went from bad to worse this week as it was revealed that the sitcom’s viewing figures had plunged by 25 per cent during its second episode, which aired on NBC in the US on Tuesday.
Kelly, 35, didn’t appear to be in the best of spirits as she was spotted out and about in Los Angeles on Wednesday in a skintight minidres which showed off her shrinking figure.
The plunging garment displayed her considerable assets and she kept things casual with flat sandals.
One Big Happy’s falling ratings came after initial reactions to the sitcom – produced by Ellen DeGeneres – were that it was ‘obvious, dumb and unfunny’ while critics labelled Kelly ‘calamitous’ and ‘unconvincing.’
Rotten Tomatoes gave has it sitting at a critics rating of 18%.
Reacting on her Instagram page, Kelly wrote: ‘There’s a famous saying “critics are the ones that know the way, but can’t drive the car” as much as we need them and I understand their job is to dissect and analyse.’
The model has clearly received a warm reception from fans nonetheless and thanked her supporters as she insisted that she was spurned on by the negative commentary.
‘It’s really you people that matter,’ she continued. ‘That’s why as performers we keep going and do what we do. Despite the years of criticism I’ve had I never lose sight of that. May we never stop entertaining or trying.
And may the Critics continue to encourage us to do better @nbconebighappy won its timeslot last night. You watched and you liked it Thank you xxxxxxxxx.’
Meanwhile, Kelly recently revealed she has been warned by show bosses not to date her hunky American co-star Nick Zano because it could make things awkward on set.
The British beauty said: ‘I can’t date him. We’ve been told we’re not allowed to because, well … we’re just not allowed. It would just be awkward for everyone, we’d have a spat.’
However, Kelly said the ban has worked in her favour by helping make their sex scenes look even more realistic.
According to The Sun newspaper, the British star said: ‘When we’re kissing, we really go for it because there’s a lot of pent-up sexual tension.’
Kelly joked their chemistry is so believable that the pair have even been warned by show bosses to keep things PG-13.
