From stray to smiley: Rescued dog with a prosthetic leg can’t stop smiling after finding his forever home.

It’s amazing how much difference a little love can make in a dog’s life. Many pets begin life in terrible situations, fighting and fending for themselves on the streets, but are radically transformed once they receive the care they need.

Like a dog who, after finding his forever home, always has the biggest smile on his face – he’s now an internet sensation known as “The Happiest Dog in the World.”

Yes, that wide smile is real and it’s a face she’s made all the time since she was rescued by her owner, Amy Matsushima.

“When she’s not sleeping she’s quite silly, she makes a lot of sounds and is playful, but even then she smiles,” Amy told the Daily Mail. “She really smiles most of the time.”

Shortcake, on the other hand, hasn’t always been so happy. In truth, he began his existence as a stray dog on the streets of Fresno, California.

“Shortcake was seen on the streets with severe mange and a hernia,” Amy told the Daily Mail. “Her time at the shelter was up when Fresno Ьᴜɩɩу гeѕсᴜe noticed her.”

“She wasn’t in the best of health because everyone who found her at the time claimed she smelled like rotten meat because of her scabies.”

But when Amy saw Shortcake’s photo online, she fell in love with the dog and his indestructible personality.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw his photo on the rescue website,” Amy told Good Morning America. “She looked dark, but she was wagging her tail and smiling, and that hit me in the heart.” “I said to myself, ‘I had to meet this dog.’”

Amy wanted to adopt Shortcake after meeting her for the first time. Fortunately, the dog was quickly cured of mange.

Shortcake is now a healthy, playful, calm dog who prefers to stay home rather than go for walks, and his newfound happiness is obvious on his face.

Amy still doesn’t understand Shortcake’s huge, frequent smiles.

“I don’t know why he smiles so much,” he told GMA. “I can’t force her to complete it on time.”

Shortcake’s smiles, on the other hand, have delighted her online followers.

@theladyshortcake’s Instagram account currently has over 185,000 followers.

“The great thing about social media is that people tell me how much joy it brings them and how it makes them smile,” Amy said. “I think it’s amazing that she makes other people happy.”

You can follow Shortcake’s Instagram to see more of her beautiful smile!
