John Hennessey breaks silence on Venom F5 300 MPH speed record attempt

This year, Hennessey Performance is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Venom GT’s 270.4 mph speed record. The Texas-based hypercar maker is also gearing up to better its previous record with their latest creation, the Venom F5. CEO John Hennessey has now provided an update on what we can expect in the coming months.

The company had been suspiciously quiet when it came to the Venom F5’s 300 mph speed record attempt. Hennessey has finally broken the silence and revealed why it has taken so long.

John Hennessey on Why His Venom F5 Will Break the Speed Record – Robb Report

Hennessey recently appointed David Donohue as their official test driver, who is expected to attempt to break the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport’s top speed record later this year. The car that will be used for the record run is also said to be ready.

The Venom F5 is powered by a 6.6-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that develops 1817 hp @ 8000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm. The engine is hooked up to a semi-automatic single-clutch transmission that drives the rear wheels. The car is designed to reach speeds of around 320 mph.
