After facing accusations from a former co-star, actor Johnny Depp has spoken out.
His former co-star Lola Glaudini alleged that Johnny was verbally abusive while the two filmed the 2001 movie Blow. A few months ago, Lola appeared on the podcast Powerful Truth Angels.
She claimed that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor yelled at her after the film’s director, Ted Demme, asked her to laugh loudly at one of Johnny’s lines. Johnny reportedly didn’t know he asked that of her, and thought she was intentionally trying to interrupt him.
“Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face,” Lola explained on the podcast, “And I’m in a bikini on the ground like this, and he comes over, and he goes, ‘Who the f*** do you think you are? Who the f*** do you think you are? Shut the f*** up. I’m out here, and I’m trying to f***ing say my lines, and you’re f***ing pulling focus.”
She claimed that he continued swearing at her, saying: “You f***ing idiot. Who the f*** do you think?”
As she stayed quiet, he added: “Oh, now, oh now it’s not so funny? Now you can shut up? Now you can f***ing shut the f*** up? Oh it’s not funny now? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you f*****g stay.'”
Now two months after the allegations were made, Johnny’s representative made a statement. According to TMZ, his representative said: “Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”
Johnny’s representative also claimed that a sound tech on the set of the crime film named Sam Sarkar doesn’t remember Lola’s recollection of events taking place. “I worked on that movie in the sound department,” he explained.
“As a sound person, you’re constantly listening to what is going on on set, listening for noises, listening for chatter,” Sam continued, “In fact, specifically, I would listen to Johnny’s audio to check for interference, both during rehearsals and during the take. I never heard anything like that – and that would have been a remarkable event.”
